"Always wrap search" and "Hide the Find dialog" under Edit>Preferences>General>Miscellaneous>Search are saved under the wrong names in `geany.conf`.
"Always wrap search" -> `search.pref_search_hide_find_dialog` "Hide the Find dialog" -> `search.pref_search_always_wrap`
This happens on Windows 10 64-bit with Geany v1.36 and v1.37.1. I assume the same thing happens on other platforms, but I can't test it myself.
The error is [here](https://github.com/geany/geany/blob/41624c411702d29834da0ff926f3c9f7c895bb47...) and has existed since https://github.com/geany/geany/commit/4ffbd8f9ada26ed8d288865e910e96dbe5250b... in 2011.
The question is do we want to swap it back now, and break all those user configs for 10 years?
and break all those user configs for 10 years
Looks like bug and this options are not critical and does not require very-very special warnings/fixes/workarounds: so, the answer is obvious. Of course, this can be noted in the list of changes.
do we want to swap it back now, and break all those user configs for 10 years
I doubt breaking/fixing these particular options could produce anything more than a one-time inconvenience of having to retick/untick two checkboxes. Also, it would only affect users who have set these to different values. So I vote to fix it
I agree it should just be fixed
Just being devils advocate, why does it need toe be "fixed"? There is nothing "wrong", Geany works properly as it is, and `geany.conf` format is not intended for human editing, it is not documented and it is regularly overwritten by Geany, so the fact that some field names don't make sense to humans doesn't matter.
The "problem" has existed for 10 years with nobody having any trouble with it, so whats the problem?
