• I don't mind much about the capitalisation, I didn't consider the names as package names. Then it is OK probably.
• I still vote for "Free Software" as it is more specific than this ambigous term "open-source". And here the capitalisation is actually important.
• in the latest image the plugin library files are included but in usr/lib/geany/geany/; Geany looks in
  usr/lib/geany
• interestingly, the GeanyPy library file is still usr/lib/geany; trying to load it will crash Geany:

Regarding the plugin dependencies:
apt-get build-dep geany-plugins should help or alternatively, https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-geany/packages/geany-plugins.git/tree/debian/control#n6.
