That is the intended/implemented behaviour, see the remark from the Project Organizer tab in the Project Properties dialog:

Note: the patterns above affect only the sidebar and are not used in the Find in Files
dialog. You can further restrict the files belonging to the project by setting the
File Patterns under the Project tab (these are also used for the Find in Files dialog).

So this is not a bug. It would be an enhancement.
