We already have such stuff for OSX, and it was needed to disable the file dialogs and use normal install dir paths. It's hardly a massive amount of maintenance effort to have a couple #ifdefs to allow a more natural feeling install, and it will be used more later for stuff like restoring a decent native-theme depending on the Windows version and such.
