I don't see the same behavior, although kinda similar: I cannot paste multiple times from the editor to itself. On the first paste it clears the initial selection, and that clears the PRIMARY X selection. I believe that used to work, which was a lot more convenient I think.
However, with other apps (or documents) as either source or target I don't have the issue and can paste as many times as I want.
