It's confusing me that you keep mentioning 0.18.1. That release doesn't
include your build system implementation.

Well, since the general consensus seemed to be that what was needed for the built-in config dialog was "the ability to simply run a few commands to compile or build programs".  So as I said I went back to 0.18.1 as a baseline "simple" system since I expect most people understand it and suggested how little to add to it thats all.
