Well, as parts of GTK and Gnome are moving to it, that means it
performs the tasks they need,
(https://github.com/GNOME/gtk/blob/master/gtk/meson.build) and that
should cover our requirements I would have thought, but I havn't
checked.

But I am only using it for relatively simple things where it "just works" :)

Yeah, and like most rapidly growing projects that are not commercially
supported, the docs lag (though at least its no longer a wiki).

That would be a distro function would it not?

And you need a supported builder, not make. :)
