[Geany] Using left most column to select lines

Hi,
I have trouble selecting lines by pressing/dragging the cursor done the left side of the lines in a file. There is a feature there that HIDEs the lines I'm trying to select. There is a vertical line with boxes on it containing - or +. What is that called?
I can't see any way to move it to the right side of the window or turning it off.

How do I either move it or turn it off?
